Person: On The Mark

November 21, 2006

My person video focuses on my sister’s boyfriend Mark Hubing. I really enjoy talking to Mark and learning about his many complexities. He’s always been an intruiging character, mainly because of his wit and sense of humor, but I also have learned as he became a part of our family about the other layers of his personality. This video examinies a little of these depths.

jamie! this is a miraculous editing job. i can’t believe you took footage of a sloth like me and make it tolerable for 3 minutes! it’s such a good job!

Jamie, this is good. I’m kinda left hanging a little bit when the Matrix clips get shown. I know this is something that he watches a lot, but it doesn’t connect very easily with anything he says, so I find myself just giving up on the confusion at the end. Just food for thought!

Very cute Z!!! Loved the music in the background and the close ups of certain items. Very personalized to Mark and what he stands for. Great job!!

Hey Jamie. Nice work, it’s good to finally see some of your stuff. I think I would have to agree w/ Kristin about the Matrix clips, also look at it through a legal standpoint. I really enjoyed your cutaways of Mark’s hands and feet, it helps get you into Mark’s character and his essance. I do feel though that the cutaway of the picture of him and Dana was a bit long. Overall though, I loved the songs of his that you picked too. Anything more goofy that Mark does? He’s toning it down, isn’t he? :)

I enjoyed your video on Mark. The filming was interesting with the shots to body parts or objects in the room. I assumed the Matrix clip is because that is one of his favorite movies??? I also liked the music and the increased volume in specific areas. I was trying to put together if the words in the song were relavent to what he was saying about his life.

This piece focused on his life after his father died. I also would of enjoyed seeing more on his wit and humor, which you indicated was the reason you found him interesting. Other than that, I was interested in watching the piece.

    Keep up the good work.

K, I totally liked the Matrix scenes, but maybe that’s just because I love the movie? Also, I thought the ending scene was cute and a nice touch.

Jamie! I finally got around to watching your other 2 pieces of art and it’s fabulous! You’re going to be a great director someday! Hey…if you ever need an extra *points to self*…huh? huh? PickMePickMePickMe! :)

I really liked this – Chris told me to amble over and watch – the music was fully in-line with what was going on and that to me is a big bonus of great editing – bravo!

Jamie– i’m entirely impressed! I loved how you edited the pieces together. It kept my attention the whole time. Obviously, i know mark really well and i thought that you really portayed important aspects of his personality. I don’t think the picture of me and him was too long, because of the reflection of him in the background, as if he was starring at it. and i thought the matrix clips were well place–we’re seeing him, but that’s what he sees… i guess you do have to consider legality though.

    overall — AWESOME job! I’m so proud…. :)

Grandma sent me the link to your work…it is awesome. I’m so proud of you. The way you mixed Mark’s interview with different video shots and music was great.
